Academic Jobs

The value of an all-round education, in which each individual and their talents come first, is fundamental to the Uppingham Cairo experience.

Our pupils want to be stimulated, challenged and inspired by their teachers. Academic life at Uppingham Cairo encourages pupils to be intellectually curious and independently minded. Our classrooms offer our pupils a safe space where they feel confident to question and discuss ideas, as well as articulating their own. We are proud of the quality of education that our pupils experience; a result of the excellent teaching standards of our academic staff. The breadth and flexibility of the Uppingham Cairo curriculum ensures that a pupil's learning experience can be personal to their own interests, aptitudes and aspirations. A commitment to a holistic education has been a fundamental part of the history of Uppingham School UK, with a curriculum that emphasises the importance of intellectual rigour, exploration, critical analysis, creativity, risk-taking, communication and teamwork. At Uppingham Cairo, we proudly bring that same commitment to Egypt. Outside of the classroom, our academic staff are greatly involved in pastoral care and provision for our Day Boarders and House life, as well as contributing to the School's exceptionally varied co-curricular programme. This could be through coaching sport, leading community service initiatives or teaching pupils a skill of their interest as part of the UPPStart and UPP&Out Enrichment Programmes. Our academic staff enjoy a supportive and invigorating environment, surrounded by colleagues from a range of backgrounds and specialisms, and within a culture that takes high-quality professional development seriously. Many of our academic staff join us following successful careers outside of teaching, while others have taught at leading schools across the globe. We also provide opportunities for recent graduates in our sport department. Additionally, we have a number of roles available each year for Early Career Teachers (ECTs). Teaching at Uppingham Cairo also includes a wide range of benefits for academic staff. Alongside a competitive renumeration scale, expatriate academic staff benefit from full scholarships for up to two children, BUPA medical insurance, luxury accommodation, transport to and from school, up to five meals per day (when on duty) and annual flight allowances. A number of additional benefits, including family membership of the Uppingham Cairo Sports' Centre, are also available. Successful applicants will be dynamic professionals with excellent subject knowledge, great communication skills, high personal and professional standards and well-developed pastoral instincts.
