Applying for a Job

As we are a School, we cannot accept CVs, unless they accompany a fully completed application form. When completing the application form, please take care to explain how you meet all of the essential and desirable points outlined in the role description. This is important, because when we are shortlisting, we refer to those essential and desirable elements, and assess applications against them. Please complete the form as fully as you are able and take care to ensure all dates of employment are completed. For all roles you will be asked to download and complete the application form. Completed applications should be emailed to Recuitment@uppinghamcairo.com.

Been Invited for an Interview?

Congratulations. You're one step closer to being employed at Uppingham Cairo. Please be aware that Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE) advises schools to undertake online checks on shortlisted candidates. Uppingham Cairo undertakes these checks in advance of candidates attending for interview. For most business support and sport centre jobs, you will be invited for a standard interview. We would normally have no more than two or three people on the panel. This is usually the Department Head and a member of the HR team. We try to make the interviews as relaxed as possible, although we understand you may feel nervous. We do not try to 'catch you out', but simply explore your relevant skills and experiences - and of course your motivations for wanting to join us. Sometimes we can offer a tour, but this is not standard. For all academic roles, you will be invited to attend online interviews. Depending on the role, you may have several interviews with various members of the Uppingham Cairo Leadership Team, in addition to the relevant Head of Department. Some specific leadership roles include additional panel interviews with senior staff (academic and support), and pupils.

Practical Tests

For some positions, it is important for us to assess your level of aptitude. For example, for some administrative roles we may ask you to undertake a simple task using a computer. For finance roles, there is likely to be something involving spreadsheets. For supervisory/managerial positions, there are likely to be prioritisation exercises.

Presentations

For more senior positions, we are likely to ask you to prepare a presentation in response to a particular topic. These would normally last no more than 15 minutes, including questions.

After the Interview

We do our best to make a decision as quickly as possible, although, of course, it is essential we take the necessary time to make the right decision. Ordinarily, you would know the outcome within no more than a few days.

Feedback

If you are not successful on this occasion, we are happy to provide feedback and it does not prevent you from applying for a role with us again in the future.
