A Level Uppingham Cairo will offer a broad range of A Level options, enabling you to choose courses that suit your interests, aptitudes and aspirations. All A Levels follow a linear model with all examinations at the end of the Upper Sixth. This allows time for in-depth study and research into your own area of interest for your Extended Project Qualification, and the opportunity to challenge yourself through ‘The Sixth Form Parallel Curriculum’. Most of our A Level pupils will study three subjects from the start of the Lower Sixth. Four subjects are only recommended if you wish to study both Maths and Further Maths. IB Diploma Programme The IB Diploma is an international qualification, and if you choose this pathway you will study three Higher Level subjects and three Standard Level subjects, enabling you to demonstrate both depth and breadth in your learning. You will also study the core elements of the IB – the Extended Essay, CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) and ToK (Theory of Knowledge) – developing critical and reflective skills, alongside research skills and an appreciation of global issues. The Sixth Form Parallel Curriculum The parallel curriculum occupies two periods per week, meaning that these activities do not have to be squeezed into your free time, nor do they clash with the academic demands of your A Level or IB subjects. The programme includes an introduction independent research and learning skills, in preparation for the EPQ or the Extended Essay, as well as options in Sports Leadership, Psychology, LAMDA Public Speaking, AS Mathematics and the Diplome d’etudes en langue francais (DELF).
